My At Home Manicure

I really love going to get my nails done, but since I am a struggling student with no money, that’s not always the smartest thing to do, so instead, I like to treat myself at home every once in a while to a nice manicure.  I paint my nails a lot, and usually I just take off the nail polish I have on and immediately paint them a new color, so occasionally, I like to really take the time to take care of my nails and give myself a nice manicure.

I’ll usually start by removing any nail polish I already have on my nails.  Next I will cut and file them, just because I don’t really like having long nails.  I really like this nail file/buffer that I got from Walgreens, it makes it really easy to shape my nails just how I want them.  I like that this buffs the nails too, because I am guilty of picking my nail polish off when I’m bored, so sometimes my nails can get kind of rough, so I like to smooth them out with this.

I also really like to use this Burt’s Bees Cuticle Cream.  It is super moisturizing and since I have really dry skin, naturally I love this.  Also it smells amazing, which is always a bonus!

And then of course I go in with the polish! Recently I’ve been using the Essie Gel Couture polishes because I find they last a little bit longer than regular polishes.  In particular, the shade Take Me To Thread has been my go-to shade.  I really like that it’s a nice neutral everyday color, and I feel like this color lasts just a little bit longer than some of the other shades too.

Lastly I will go over with the Essie Gel Topcoat layer.  Then I will take a Q-Tip and dip it in some nail polish remover to clean up the edges of my nails, because I’m definitely not a pro nail painter, so I mess up a lot, but at least it’s easy to fix!

And there you have it, my at home manicure! I don’t always spend this much time doing my nails, but it’s nice to pamper yourself every once in a while!

I’ve not tried the Essie Gel Couture polishes, their regular formula doesn’t last well on my nails at all but will definitely have to check out this range, I’m always obsessed with Essie polish shades! xx

Yeah, their regular polish formulas don’t last that long on me either, so I like that they came out with the gel range, their colors are so pretty! 🙂

The colors of those polishes are so lovely. I keep seeing them around — I’ll have to pick one up to try. Burt’s Bees Cuticle Cream is my favorite! Thanks for sharing.

This is the second rave review I’ve read about the Burt’s Bees cuticle cream this week! I have one sitting in a drawer because the texture confuses me lol. But I def have to give it another try now 🙂 The essie gel polishes sound awesome! Essie is probably my favorite polish brand so I really need to give these gel ones a go. I love the shades in your collection 🙂

That’s so funny! But yeah, at first I wasn’t so sure about the cuticle cream, but after I started using it often I loved it! Essie is mt favorite brand too, so many pretty colors! 🙂
